Why Follow For Follow is Good And Bad And More.

I’ve been streaming on and off for over half a year and I have helped a few streamers grow, but recently one of those streamers posted something on twitter that made me think. He posted about having 700 followers on twitch but having only roughly 4 viewers per stream. I have nothing compared to his number, but still I’ve the same issue low normal gaming stream viewers. So why do some streamers make it, why do some struggle, why do some get high view counts and some get very few? Why follow for follow is bad. Let’s dive into the why do some make, some don’t, why do some get high viewer counts and some get few. As far as I can tell those who make it have either been early adaptors to the streaming platform, some have gimmicks . For gimmicks people who do outlandish things or unique graphics seem to have followers example I have high followers when I started using background graphics between October and January. I have ghost and goblins for the month of Halloween, season of fall graphics for November, and Of course December is Christmas or winter. As soon as that ended viewership went down. Also some gimmicks don’t work or have been banned by Twitch and YouTube. I also feel streaming at certain hours can decrease the views. Got to keep in mind that when you stream on the east coast at say 6pm it’s only 3pm on the west coast. And vice versus if it’s 9pm west coast it’s 12am on the east coast. So timing your stream os very important. Now the last thing I’m going to tackle is the follow for follow, the good and the bad. The good of follow for follow is simple you grow your followers and on Twitch it helps you get to affiliate faster which is great cause you can get bits a form of payment on twitch, there are no real benefits of follow for follow on YouTube. Now the bad about follow for follow, they follow you just for the follow most don’t actually comeback and view your streams so you have 200 followers your lucky if half or even quarter of those come back to view your stream. Also if you get follow for follows from another streamer that you watch, the possibility of those people won’t stop viewing the original viewer to come watch you. So there is one good thing and 2 bad things for follow for follow. One more thing I didn’t list was streaming the games that’s are popular or as I like to call it fade streaming. When a new games comes out hundreds, and thousands of people buy that games half or more of those people are streamers and streaming that game. Maybe instead of relying on playing the same game play a previous version or that game or an older game. That will help separate you from other streamers and not competing with those streamers. I hope I shined some light on why I think follow for follow is a good but also bad idea. Some insight to why some people have luck with higher views and some don’t and maybe gave some ideas how to increase viewership.
